New Year's Eve 2012

Today it has been...

I am already for monthly journaling this new year, hopefully I will make it through all 12 months this time. I managed 10 months this year.

The whole double page in my new Dylusions journal (which I adore).

We are off to the cinema to see 'The Hobbit' in a mo as we have a babysitter! I hope you all have a good evening, whatever you are doing. (I'm more of a Christmas person than New Year).

It just remains for me to say Happy New Year to you all. I hope to be a better blogger in 2013.

Hugs and best wishes for to ight and the new year.

A Journal Page and some Mince Pies

I have been trying to journal my reading, partly for me and partly as a way of modelling an independent love of reading for my classes. I thought I would share one complete page and one in progress. It has been a therapeutic journey and has made me look at texts differently too.

Can you guess the text?

Just need to add icing sugar later.

A bit of doodling too. I can't recommend 'Creative Doodling and Beyond' too highly. It is a good resource to have for ideas.

N
I am looking forward to being more creative in 2013. I am looking forward to keeping balance more in 2013.

What are you looking forward to? Thanks for stopping by today. Hugs Cherry X

Wish for 2013

Clare's free online journal course has started.

Her first lesson is ready and is fab. I really enjoyed watching it with a nice glass of Merlot. It really inspired me and was a tonic. Do pop over to our forum on Craftbubble and join in.

I have decided to do it in my journal and used a double page.

I loved it was all centred around the word WISH and 2013. Perfect start indeed. Another start for us is the riding of a bike - great fun.

Have fun, hope the weather is a little drier than it is here where you are.

Happy Christmas 2012

It is such a long while since I posted. I have missed posting and crafting. I am going to aim to post once a month and see if that is sustainable with working and family life. I did want to wish everyone a Happy Christmas 2012.

Please ignore the date, not sure what my iPad is doing!

Holiday journal pages.

Really trying to play with Dylusions Lime green spray, as green is a colour I am trying to use more. It really is a summery colour so it inspired me to explore holiday moments.

I used a quote from Brenda Ueland as it seemed to suit. " You see, imagination needs moodling, - long, inefficient, magical, idling, dawdling and puttering." I am trying to implement this at the moment.

I received this image in a swap and I thought she suited the page.

I thought I would have her stay at the Hotel Chocolat (ribbon from a box of their fine chocs).

Added some Pan Pastels with various stencils and some holidaying doodles. Added some liquid pearls and Sakura clear star glitz. Made some clouds from tissue paper and dictionary pages (dreams & holiday defs).

Added a title with letter stamps. Had a creative holiday. Thanks for stopping by. Hugs C X

ATCs

Just to hopefully join in with Louise's ATC swap on Craft Mad & Loving It forum I chose to make these ATCs. They are purely because the colours, paper and patterns make me happy. Hugs C x

Losing the fear of being wrong!

My journal page today is all about this fear. I wanted to really push my boundaries and have a go at a dark but rich page similar to some I had seen in Art Journaling Magazine a couple of moths ago. I started with acrylic paints mixed with pearlescent medium. I then added some torn Cardstock to add texture.

I added my new mask stamp, after decorating it with gilding flakes and stamping over the top and adding two beads.

The mask needed a frame which I created and then heat embossed using details from the mask stamp in gold jewelled powder.

I added my quote. And then some gold acrylic paint, gold rub on cream, crackle paint, perfect pearls shimmer spray in heirloom gold and some DI in brushed corduroy.

This is going to be the cover of a loose ring binder journal. I have had the ring binder for ages, it is a blank paper chase one. Now I know what I want to do with it I thought I would try 'To live a creative life, one must first lose the fear of being wrong'.

Thanks for stopping by today. Hugs C X

July's Calendar Page

I have finished my page for July and I have to say I am pleased with it even though it has been quite a hard month.

I have tried a colour I don't normally use - green. I added some yellow too, both were Dylusions' spray inks, on Gesso. I then added my journalling which I have been doing on torn paper as it mirrored my frayed feelings, to be honest.

I just love Lisa's Altered Art images. So I picked suitable ones and added them in. I added doodles with Sharpie pens, Pitt pens and Inkessential white pen. Letters were added from TH die cut. I also stamped some banners onto green and yellow tissue paper. I liked the translucent effect of these.

Do visit The Kathryn Wheel to see the host, Kate Crane, and all those gorgeous entries that appear every month. I am already on to August. Here's hoping for sun and many good days to come. Hugs C X

Reading focus : What's yours?

Have just read this as my first summer read. Had read Book of Dead Days a while back and thought it was interesting.
These are not for pleasure but to keep abreast of adolescent fiction for work. Having said that they are quite good reading if you want fast, slightly dark material for entertainment, minus vampires!

I am savouring Neil Macgregor's The History of the World in a Hundred Objects as my book at bedtime at the moment too.
That is purely for me and pleasure. In the pipeline are a re-read of Private Peaceful and The Hobbit. I'm hoping to have a browse of the book shop this week too.

What are you reading at the moment?

Experimenting

I have spent some time today playing with DIs.

The Indigo Blue butterfly from Craft Stamper Mag is really lovely.

Almost as lovely as this girly from Stampotique, don't you think?

I don't think I've mentioned Tim H's background stamps either - simply fab.

Lastly, Played with stencil, DIs and embossing powder and Stickles. A little silicone glue to add dimension.

I really have had a relax in between jobs. Thanks for stopping by. Hugs C XXX

Maze Books

Thanks to the Purple Princess (Kathy) for the idea and speed tutorial for this idea and concept. I love it.

Have fun playing. Cherry XxX

My elastic Band Journal

This is part of my online course for using sketchbooks in classrooms. We had to choose a word and images and start documenting thoughts.

I chose 'cork'. Lots of reasons but I like the sound the word makes too - lol.

It has been fascinating using a word as a theme. It is something I will try again.

This is the cover so far. It is a complete work in progress, but I am buzzing with ideas of how to use this next year with my students.

We are moving on to sketching this week. I am a bit nervous about this. Hugs C X
