Me Time Message Week Three

Clare's lovely Me Time Messages are on Week Six -the final week! Do pop over and check out Clare's lovelywork for this project and all of her other amazing artistry.

I'm behind so here is Week Three - I enjoyed using stencils, DI, inking and embossing. I'm still not sure about heat embossing as a technique. I'm never truly happy with it.

Front.

Back.

I am really enjoying following Clare's techniques. Thank you Clare.

Have a good weekend. Cherry xxx

A story of a Sunday...

Yesterday, I left home in the middle of a heavy rain episode in the early morning. The tail of a hurricane named Bertha, no less. It was a horrid trip down the M5, but the end destination kept me motivated and on track. I was on my way to The palace of the Purple PrinPurple Palacecess. I am lucky enough to have known Kathy for six years and she is one of my valued friends - both as one of the most knowledgable artists I know and as a fantastic fun friend.

I received the warmest of welcomes when I arrived, as usual, and we immediately got settled in Kathy's set up craft room. I have failed to mention all I took with me was one dictionary, one embossing folder I had kidnapped last visit and my journal. I can't tell you how freeing it was to sit down and go with the flow! I recommend the journey to you.

Kathy had just purchased a set of Brushos, not a new product, but new to us. We set of playing in our dictionaries having picked a colour and that page. Kathy obviously went with purple and I chose red. We then had a few pieces of watercolour paper - as I forgot mine!!! We sprinkled, mixed and squirted gloss medium, Brushos, modelling paste, mod podge, shimmer sprays and...

I

None of it is finished but it was huge fun and I learnt a lot! If you want to know more see Kathy's wonderful blog.

Unfortunately for him, Mr K could not go to his planned day due to the weather however that was a bonus for us, as he cooked lunch and generally looked after us.

Thanks to Mr and Mrs K for the day. Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs Cherry

Me Time Messages - Message one

Finally, I have finished message one. Clare asked us to work with one of the positive words we had journaled mine is 'supportive'.

Lots of messy fun then ensued as I taped, Gessoed, painted, cut, stuck, pasted, spritzed, sprinkled, inked, and wrote...

Front and...

Back...

Right I am on message two now then!

Have a fun Friday! C xxx

Transfer using wrapping paper.

I did not think this would work but it is my favourite so far. Now to work on the pages! I'm only using Matte Medium in a Sainsbury's lined notebook. It really is cheap and thin substrate.

Have a good Thursday all. C xxx

Transfers using matte medium

Having read Art Journaling I have wanted to experiment with transfers using matte medium. Got round to having a go this week. I have learnt much about how it works. The trickiest bit was not wetting the page too much when removing the back of the image.

It rips see first attempt below.

I am planning on repairing as I work!

I got better as I experimented; baby wipes are very useful. It is a truly magical technique to use, and I loved it as the flipped image emerged. Now to finish the pages!

Day 3 10 Minutes

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Tuesday, 8 July 2014

10 minutes a day!

After the weekend myself and Ribbon Dreams (Debs) decided we really had to find 10 minutes a day to journal or get arty.

So far we have managed it. I Hope it lasts, I am really going to try.

Day 1

Day 2

I wonder what next...
I am going to try and post progress every day. Think I have an easy and quick way to do this now.

Catch Up

Life continues to throw curved balls and time appears to disappear in a vortex of everything except Paint and messy things! However, this weekend I escaped to Bristol with some magnificent hosts and friends. Thank you, all of you, but especially Mr and Mrs K.

We went tarmacing! A technique which is rather terrifying and fume- ridden! Make lovely art and cover in bitumen and white spirit! Then rub off with more white spirit!

Luckily, it worked rather well...

Neither of mine are finished yet but I think they have potential.

We then went to Newbury Artstamps Show and met up with more friends - hooray. Did I buy anything? Well it would have been rude...

Oh dear! But I have promised myself ten minutes a day for arty stuff from now on so I will use it - really!

Thanks for stopping by...I know I am rarely here but I do lurk a bit and love the blogosphere so keep posting and visiting ...thank you. Cherry xxxx

Catching up

I had a fantastic weekend a month ago (where does the time go) with crafting friends. We went to Rugeley and crafted, ate, chatted and made a clock! Thanks guys it was amazing, as ever!

My clock was for LO's bedroom so had a faerie feel and she loves it. Thanks to Andy for the clock workshop.

Thanks to Andy and Wynneth for the whole weekend - you are both such special people.

On the way home I managed a little shopping too! Can't wait to play with the modelling paste.

Since returning I have only managed one page which has taken me three weeks to get done!

This was week 10 of Lifebook and was a lesson by Tam, herself. I have loved doing this, even if it was ten minutes at a time! I am way behind now but it is great to have lessons every week to download and work through at my own slow pace.

Thanks for stopping by. Cherry x
