Grow where you are planted

This is the twist for Lauren's sketch over at the 'CMLI' it group. It was one of those - "that's lovely" moments. Yet when i started yesterday it turned into the crafting equivalent of a major disaster. Things tore, got chewed up, weren't straight and I managed to lose the sentiment that I had cut, embossed, and stamped altogether! In short I was very fed up and the card was in the bin. Then I just couldn't think of what to do as an alternative.
I slept on it and wandered around this morning (well did the ironing, went to two play parks, the PO, the Supermarket.....) and still nothing. After much kicking and screaming this has appeared.

The papers are Bo Bunny. The flower is folded and based on a circle of card and topped with a circle of card (scalloped circle nestie) and topped with seed beads and magic dust. Punch is MS and leaves and small flowers X-Cut.

Close up of the beads - I really like beads and should use them more in journaling and things - great for texture and colour.

This is a stumpworked leaf. I used to do quite a bit of stumpwork but haven't for a while because it is quite fiddley and the prep time is a pain. If you want to know how it is achieved in detail go to Kay Dennis' book 'Beginner's guide to Stumpwork'. Basically you couch a frame and use stitches to fill in the middle on a needlelace pad. The one side is single brussels stitch and the other corded single brussels stitch. The embellie at the top was also sewn. I think I might use more sewn items on pieces as I enjoyed this part of the card.
Looking at it now I think I should have left the threads across the sentiment off as it looks like I've crossed it out! Whoops.
Hopefully the mojo will be back to working order tomorrow.
What do you do when 'it' just isn't happening?
Is it positive or negative?
Do you look for explanations or just accept or beat up an innocent vegetable?

  1. Holy moly, that leaf is amazing. I have no idea what all that technospeak you wrote meant, but the end product looks awesome! Pretty card. RE: the "it"... I do something completely different for a while until "it" comes back. The more different it is, the thing I choose to do, the quicker "it" comes back. :) Have a great mojo-filled day!
