Being Good Enough

I struggle with this concept all of the time. If it is not perfect/right/best then it is not good enough. This is something I only seem to apply to me. I value the different approaches used by everyone else and love seeing those around me following their paths without placing the same rules on them.

I was reading Violette's journalling book and loved her Gremlin page idea (draw the inner gremlin on the page and have a dialogue with it then start journalling), that is what started me thinking about the struggle I have on a daily basis with should/could/ought. Often it is these that place me in my sterile box of non-activity or domestic pre-occupation. Having returned to work in September, I have noticed they have got louder and the ability to be and enjoy have got less.

This is my answer today, the focus on the colours and dream-like qualities of being on the journey where it is the journey that allows the daily miracles to occur within oneself. The journey is the allowable activity for me that the other words stop if I let them.

What gets you facing those gremlins?

I enjoyed creating with the Dylusions inks, Distress Ink Markers, Sharpie Markers, Caron D'Ache pastels, liquid Pearls and Glossy Accents. Thanks to Louise for the image. Also used tissue paper and book pages. The quote is from Violette's book and is credited to Saki.

Thanks for visiting on Maundy Thursday. C XxX

  2. a beautiful page cherry. gremlins....i've got more than a few of them but luckily not when it comes to getting creative!! so pleased to see you getting some crafting time. xx

  3. Your page is very uplifting and spiritual I think. I certainly suffer from those gremlins too- never feeling good enough and what I should be doing... I hope your crafty time help elievate your stress for a little while at least. Enjoy your Easter break and hope you had a lovely birthday the other day x

  4. Cherry, your journal page today is so pretty and thoughtful. The colours are just lovely.

I have also had struggles with the "Good Enough" idea. I'm a born-again perfectionist and it has taken me years to accept that things do not always need to be 120% perfect, in order to be worthwhile. I have a son who has inherited my tendency... I started early, to teach him the concept of "Good Enough" - not to encourage him to be lazy or sloppy in his work, but to help him see that his efforts can be directed in the right way, to produce results that are perfectly acceptable. That now and then, it's great to really push the boat out, make a huge extra effort, produce that 120%, but that, most of the time 90%-100% is perfectly alright. Good Enough is Good!

  5. Fabulous pages - I really like the colours and all the layers.

Thanks for stopping by today - comments are really appreciated. Here's sending love back to you. Hugs Cherry XXX
